Hi,

I am trying to read the MAC ID of a nearby BLE beacon device. How can I do that. Where will the control hit, if observer identifies a BLE beacon?

Register for a callback with the observer profile and you should start receiving GAP_DEVICE_INFO_EVENT messages. You can do something like pEvent->deviceInfo.addr to give you the BLE address.

I am not getting Debugger hit on GAP_DEVICE_INFO_EVENT. How can I verify that the observer program is active?

is there any document specifying the working of simple_observer_cc2650em_app and how to debug this project. I am a having a hard time to debug this. I can't even understand where is observer message handler for the record.

Is the observer is waiting for any button press to start scanning?

Honestly I don't know the answer to that - you will have to read the code in the app function to see how it kicks off an observer (it might be on a clock, it might be instigated with a button press). You have to make 100% sure that the PLUS_OBSERVER is set on your BLE stack project from memory - if the app is trying to start the observer but the stack doesn't support it you will get a crash.

Hi Danish,

There are a few different projects that you can use to see BLE advertisements: Simple Observer, Simple Central, and Host Test are the ones we recommend most. Most of our sample applications have usage guidance in either the User's Guide or the readmes, however, it doesn't appear to be the case for Simple Observer in the BLE-Stack v2.2.x SDK. I would recommend using Simple Central to get started since the instructions in the User's Guide are more complete.

If you wish to continue using Simple Observer, please look at the SimpleBLEObserver_handleKeys function to get an idea about how to interact with the example code. Then you should see the debugger hit GAP_DEVICE_INFO_EVENT as David mentioned.
