RF430FRL152H： How to use an NFC reader to read the data of a digital sensor

Hi Chen,

yes, you can read the data with any NFC reader that supports the ISO15693 protocol. The "Read Single Block" and "Write Single Block" commands are all what you need.

I have written a GUI for the Lab work which is maybe helpful in your case to have the relation between block-numbers and the memory addresses.

Thank you very much for your help, I still have problems. Do I need to change the program in RF430FRL152H? Or just through write single block and read single block to achieve. And I don’t know the instructions used by WRITR SINGLE BLOCK. Is there any instruction for reference?

just to confirm if I understand correct.

You wrote, you use the RF430FRL152HEVM with the SENSHUB and you are able to read the data with RF430FRL152H GUI. This means you have installed the firmware for the SENSHUB project at the RF430FRL152HEVM. To read the data you use the DLP-7970ABP with the MSP-EXP430G2 Launchpad controlled by the RF430FRL152H GUI. Is this understanding correct from my side?

Now you want to use not the DLP-7970A + MSP-EXP403G2 but an other NFC reader. This could be for instance also a NFC enabled smartphone.

Please confirm if this is the case.

Yes, this is the case. So I think that actually using the RF430FRL152H GUI control is to send an instruction to the RF430FRL152H tag, so it should be possible to use other NFC to send instructions. But I don't know the content of this instruction. Or, can the content of SENSORHUB be directly stored in a certain block when the RF430FRL152H tag is working, so that the data can be obtained by reading the corresponding block? If so, does Ti have a relevant reference code?

The RF430FRL152H has a build in ROM firmware which controls the measurement. Due to the fact that the function of the digital sensor is not known by the ROM code it is necessary to write code for the initialization of the sensor and a code how to get the measurement value. The ROM firmware will use these functions to setup the sensor and get the measurement value and then store the data in the memory. The configuration of the ROM firmware is done by so called virtual registers which are located in the FRAM memory area (Block 0 to 8) The external NFC reader has to configure these registers by "Write Single Block" commands. Then start the measurement by setting the startbit in the register and read out the measurement value (starting from block 9) when the data is available.

I think this is correct, but I ran into another problem. I tested it with TRF7970GUI, but when I was about to write data (8 bytes) to block 0, it prompted me Long Data. But the data length I read using read single block is 8bytes. When I write 4bytes of data, there will be no prompt, but when I read the block, there is no change in the data.

Thanks for your help, now it works very well, there is only one last question, how can I make continuous measurements after the start and save them in the same register (F8B0)? Just like START DEMO in RF430FRL152HGUI. Did it change the value of a register? Or is it just a script that keeps modifying startbit?
