TRF7964A: FeliCa in Direct Mode

Hi,

Customers want to communicate with SPI without SS. I understand that we have to use Direct Mode because TRF7964A can't use FIFO.(Errata) Is it right?

Can TRF7964A communicate with FeliCa in direct mode?

    Hi Rei,

    when using SPI without SS the FIFO is not accessible, that is right. Direct mode 1 would be an option but requires dedicated firmware and the connection of I/O5 (Data) I/O6 (Bit Clock) and the MOD pin to the MCU. The MCU must also be fast enough to handle the TX and RX data in time. I would recommend using the SPI with SS when possible.
