CC8520: Out of band noise peak at 1/3rd of transmit frequency

Part Number: CC8520
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2592

We have a design using the CC8520 together with a CC2592, and in general we are very satisfied with the results in performance and reach. However, we recognised a significant out-of-band peak at 1/3rd of the transmit frequency:

Setup: CC8520 with Production test firmware

Mode: Set to transmit a continuous wave at 2442MHz using host command  "rft_txtst_cw(0,1,124,-20)"

Besides the transmit signal at 2442MHz at -20dBm, we also see an out-of-band signal at 814MHz at -31dBm, so just 11dB lower than the main signal!

We are sure, the 814MHz signal is coming from the CC8520 and not the CC2592, as we checked an older design without the CC2592 and it has the same issue (814MHz peak ~10dB below 2442MHz signal).

Modifications on the power supply don´t seem to have any influence on the 814MHz peak.

Is this a known issue and what is the source of this out-of-band peak?
