WL1835MODCOM8B: Kernel Panic at ieee80211_scan_rx

Part Number: WL1835MODCOM8B

Hello,

We are seeing the kernel panic similar to the one reported in this thread https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/wi-fi-group/wifi/f/wi-fi-forum/810040/linux-wl1831mod-panic-at-ieee80211_scan_rx-wl1831mod-am335x-r8-7-sp3. There is patch provided by TI as solution of this issue.

To include this fix in our device and device in field, it requires a OS upgrade. OS upgrade going to take a good amount of time for us and we have a release deadline coming soon. My team trying to understand the severity of this issue. To address that we have couple of question and it would be great to get the answer from TI team:

1. What can be the cause of occurrence of this issue. Is there any condition when this kernel panic becomes very frequent.
2. Is there any configuration change we can do in System Configuration Script configure-device.sh to temporarily stop the crash. If yes, what is the side effect of it.

It would be good to get some more information on this issue t decide our release plan.

Looking forward to your reply!!
Regards
