TRF7970A: lower price solution

Hi,

Does TI have lower price solution for replace TRF7970A this kind of RFID/NFC Transceiver IC?

I've check TI website seems this series TRF7963A 1ku price ~ $1.7k.

Does there have any better suggestion? thanks!

    Hello Jeff,

    The recommended devices for new design-ins are the TRF7964A  www.ti.com/product/TRF7964A  and the TRF7970A www.ti.com/product/TRF7970A .

     

    Both devices are pin-to-pin and SW compatible.

    TRF7964A – supports multi-protocol reader/writer mode for NFC and RFID tags (ISO15693, ISO18000-3 Mode 1,  ISO14443A, ISO14443B, Sony Felica, …. )

    with all protocol handling for the ISO Protocols on board and custom devices can be supported by direct mode.

     

    TRF7970A – supports all NFC operating modes - multi-protocol reader/writer mode (ISO15693, ISO14443A, ISO14443B, Sony Felica, …. )

    as also peer-to-peer and card emulation.

     

    So if they only need the reader/writer functionality and not the peer-to-peer or card emulation functionality of the TRF7970A

    they can use the TRF7964A.
