Hi,

We would like to use CC2590 together with CC2540.
I read in AN120 that the TI BLE software stack can control automatically.
Currently, we are using our own proprietary protocol with the old TI BLE software stack.
Would it be enough to update the TI BLE software stack and modify the FW with HCI_EXT_ExtendRFRangeCmd?

Or is it necessary to manually control the CC2590 in this case?

Is there a document available for the control sequence and timings for manual control?

Hi Szabolcs,

If you are using the CC2590 with the CC2650, then I would recommend referencing the TIDC-BLUETOOTH-LOW-ENERGY-LONG-RANGE reference design which incorporates both of these parts. The following document should also be used as a reference: Using CC2590 Front End with CC2541

Dear Jan,

thank you for your answer, we working on this problem with Szabolcs.

Unfortunately, those pins (CC2540’s P1_1; P1_2; P1_3) that could use to control the '2590 are already used to control other peripheries.

Could you please tell us, what the requirements/prerequisites are to control the CC2590 from other pins?

Hi Miki,

Unfortunately, based on the Using CC2590 Front End with CC2541 application report, in section 8 Controlling the CC2590, those are the pins that must be used to control the amplifier.

It seems these values are set in the software stack itself and may not be changed. If your design already uses these pins, then I would suggest modifying your schematic to free up these pins for the amplifier to use.
