RI-TRP-DR2B: Degrading Transponder

Part Number: RI-TRP-DR2B

Recently this has started to cause problems in reading. Is this transponder capable of deteriorating performance over time? We have been using this transponder for more than10 years.
In addition - Tests have shown that single pages of the mulitpage memory are not readable anymore.

  • Hello Harald,

I'm not aware of known performance degradation over time for the RI-TRP-DR2B.

Did you mean the problematic transponder is 10 years old?

    Best regards,

    Andreas.

  • The RI-TRP-DR2D is available since the 1990ths?

If they are used still, they are older than 10 years.

so if you have never heard about this problem, what’s your point?

    best regards

    Harald

  • Hello Harald,

my question of the transponder age was for the particular transponder, where the problems in reading were observed. I was not sure if your wording "using this transponder for more than10 years" would mean, to assemble new transponders since more than 10 years and now suddenly there is a batch of new devices showing read issues.

Anyway, a data retention of (accelerated) 10 years was tested successfully as part of the device qualification. There are no known issues in data retention.

What exact results are you observing? Is the known (>10 years old) memory content read different now? Or did you try to replace memory content, which did not reflect in the read back?

In the first case, you could re-program the memory with the correct content. In the second case have you checked if the affected pages have been locked (on purpose or accidentally)?

    Best regards,

    Andreas.
