CC8531: Configuration issues with cc8531?

Part Number: CC8531

hi

Our company has a number of wireless products that use cc8531. We  pair the host and slave through buttons.

We have some questions to ask you.

Question 1:

How can the CC8531 clear the slave  pairing ID after successful pairing. Can I clear it by pressing the button?

Question 2:

How to pair again after canceling the pairing. Can we reconfigure it to the original ID.

Our configuration is as follows:

1 host and 4 slaves

  • Hi taoyu,

For more context with question 1, why do you want to clear the slave pairing ID after successfully pairing?  The pairing ID is set per device and cannot be cleared by buttons.  Here are some other threads you can reference:

  • hi:

    It is our customers' requests

They have received some equipment waiting for repair and want to unpair it by pressing the button. Then we will mail them a new slave device and they will pair it again.

So we are trying to find a way to unpair and pair the device.

  • Are you able to reprogram the device to return it to a factory new state?  After a slave device has been inactive for 128 timeslots it will be un-paired from the master automatically.  https://e2e.ti.com/f/1/t/588440

  • Do you mean that this operation must be completed through PurePath software? My client is a foreign trade company, and they don't have this skills. So do we have to hand over the purepath software to them?
  • First, you should confirm whether unpairing occurs automatically as stated after the slave device is removed from network communication, as re-programming for your application purposes is likely not necessary.  Two additional programming methods are also available if the client must reprogram:

    • The command-line based programming tool provided with the Configurator, PurePathWirelessProgrammer.exe. This tool provides access to most of the functionality found in the Flash Programming panel, and uses the Texas Instruments CCDebugger to interface with the CC85xx.
    • Direct access to the CC85xx bootloader through the SPI interface, using the command set defined in the CC85xx Family User's Guide.

Ultimately this path would require providing some form of CC8531 image, so it would be best for you to replicate the client's setup and determine whether this is actually necessary.
