CC2651R3: Assistance Required: Issues with Controller IC CC2651R3

Part Number: CC2651R3
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, SYSCONFIG

Tool/software:

Dear Team,

We are currently experiencing issues with the CC2651R3 IC and require your assistance. The problems we have encountered are as follows:

  1. MAC Address Issue:

    • We have observed that the CC2651R3 IC is generating the same MAC address across multiple devices. Specifically, we have encountered this issue with 7-8 devices, all of which have the same MAC address.
    • Request: Could you provide any guidance or solutions to address this MAC address duplication problem?
  2. Uniflash Software Error:

    • When attempting to read the MAC address using Uniflash software, we receive the following error message:
      vbnet
      Copy code
Error connecting to the target: (Error -2131 @ 0x0) Unable to access device register. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK). (Emulation package 12.7.0.00130)
    • Request: Could you suggest potential solutions or troubleshooting steps to resolve this error?

We have already attempted various troubleshooting steps on our end without success. Any assistance or recommendations you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for reaching out.

    MAC Address Issue:

In order to further comment on the issue, could you please provide more details on the software being used? Among others, the software may force the usage of a specific "MAC" address.

The following details would come particularly handy:

    • Can you specify the SDK version, devices marking, and software example being used?
    • Do absolutely all the devices have the same MAC address? What is the value of the address?
    • Can you verify the configuration set in SysConfig > BLE > General Configuration > Address Mode? (please provide a screenshot)
    • Can you verify the configuration set in SysConfig > Device Configuration > Configure BLE Address? (please provide a screenshot)
    • Can you provide the code used for initializing the GAP layer? (especially the call to GAP_DeviceInit)

By the way, trying to read the MAC address using Uniflash is a great idea I could have added to the list :)

    Uniflash Software Error:

Here are a few debugging leads:

    • Ensure all the cJTAG signals (power, gnd, Reset, TMS, TCK) are properly connected
    • Ensure the device debug access is not locked. The device debug access can be locked applying certain SysConfig settings (see ysConfig > Device Configuration >  Debug Access).
    • Ensure you manage to read the MAC address on non-flashed devices

    I hope this will help,

    Please keep us posted.

    Best regards,

  • Dear Clément,
Thank you for your prompt response.
We recently purchased ICs from a local vendor in Mumbai. Unfortunately, these ICs are consistently showing the MAC address "FF:FF:FF:FF:FF" For all units, which indicates a potential issue. In contrast, ICs ordered previously from Mouser Electronics did not exhibit this problem.
To address this concern, I would like to verify whether the ICs we received are genuine or potentially counterfeit. For your reference, I have attached images of the ICs, including their manufacturer numbers.
Could you please review the attached images and confirm the authenticity of these ICs? Your confirmation will help us determine if we need to discuss this matter further with the vendor.
         Thank you for your assistance.
    Best regards,
  • Hi,

Thank you for providing these pictures. To avoid confusions, could you please specify which units are "good" and "bad"?

    Appreciate your help,

    Regards,

  • Hello,

If you suspect that you have counterfeit parts, please create a new case with our Customer Support Center and include all of the following information. We can only evaluate your case if you send us:

    • A completed Counterfeit Validation Form, also available from the Customer Support Center.
    • High-quality digital photos of the bottom and top of the device(s).
    • High-quality digital photos of the TI 2D barcode labels.
    • Copies or photographs of shipping documents, including the packing slip showing the origin of the devices to TI. (If you cannot provide this information, we will not be able to provide verification, due to uncertainties regarding the chain of custody of the products.)

    Thanks,

    Jake

  • Hello,

They all are new IC and giving same MAC address. So, in that you can see the manufacturer part number on the chip.

  • Hello Jake,

    Thank you for support.

I'll create new case in customer support.
