We are in process of shifting from CC2510 to CC2650 considering lower power consumption of the later. On receiver side, we have CC2500 with a powerful micro-controller. We want to keep the receiver side same.

On CC2500 we have used balun 2450BM15B0003E...And on CC2650 side recommended balun is 2450BM14G0011. Will the communication possible between the two? or does it pose any challenges with packet reception? Let me know.

Is CC2650 is a good choice or is there anything better?

Can you list your required PHY properties:

Modulation format (GFSK, MSK, etc)

Frequency

Deviation

Bandwidth

Packet Format

MSB/LSB

Syncword

and any special cases.

Hi Alex,

We are using configuration given by SmartRFStudio for CC2500.

Modulation format: GFSK
Frequency: 2.4 GHz (ISM band)
Data Rate: 250 Kbps (using standard configuration from Smart RF Studio for CC2500)
Deviation: As per Smart RF Studio’s standard settings for 250 Kbps
Bandwidth: 512 KHz (as per Smart RF Studio)
Packet Format: Standard configuration (Preamble + Syncword + Payload + CRC)
MSB/LSB: MSB first
Syncword: 0xD391 (or based on Smart RF Studio default)
Special Cases: None

Hello Venugopal Kapre,

CC2500 supports the settings you list above, however the CC2650 does not.

CC2652R7

CC2652RSIP

CC2642R

CC2340R5

among other support your PHY, note you can quickly check this by downloading and opening SmartRF Studio 7 and selecting the target board and seeing if the device supports "Proprietary mode" or not:

and once opened you can see the list of supported PHYs

Hello,

I tend to use the XDS110 for the CC2340R5, the process with UniFlash is very simple, first connect the CC2340R5 and XDS110, the select your device (CC2340R5) and XDS110 should be selected automatically, then open the session.
