CC430F5137/CC1101. Can it be used as a RX receiver @ ~160MHz?

Hi

I did few developments involving the CC430F5137 for RF TX/RX @ 915MHz last year and I was very pleased with this component. I was wondering if it would be possible to use this micro-controller as a 162MHz receiver only?

The datasheet indicates the following frequency ranges below but I'm not certain if this is a physical limitation or if it is a legal limitation for TX?

300 MHz to 348 MHz,
389 MHz to 464 MHz,
779 MHz to 928 MHz

I would like to build a tiny AIS receiver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_Identification_System).

This is the first time I post a question in the TI forum. Sorry if I did not post this question in the right section.

We have no perfect match for the AIS band. Your best (and only) option is to use CC112x slightly out of spec. The CC112x covers 136.7 MHz - 160 MHz and 164 MHz - 192 MHz.

I have just checked the datasheet of the CC1120,CC1121 and CC1125. The minimum frequency range given in the datasheets is 164MHz-192MHz. but google gave me the reply regarding the 136.7MHz-160MHz band (http://e2e.ti.com/support/low_power_rf/f/155/p/220039/775079.aspx).

It is a pity that the AIS channel is right in the middle of the supported bands.

Wikipedia: "AIS transponders use two different frequencies, VHF maritime channels 87B (161.975 MHz) and 88B (162.025 MHz), and use 9.6 kbit/s Gaussian minimum shift keying (GMSK) modulation over 25 or 12.5 kHz channels using the High-level Data Link Control (HDLC) packet protocol"

I have to read carefully all those datasheets now!
