CC85XXEM-RD: CAD Standard Gerber and design files...please!

Part Number: CC85XXEM-RD

I have now read through at least five threads in these forums all asking the same thing: Instead of CADSTAR proprietary design files, can we have an exported version that can be imported into other PCB design tools? Unfortunately there is never a response from Ti that the files have or will be added. For Altium, and most other CAD importers, the schematic and PCB files must be in CADSTAR archive format, .CSA and .CPA. Could Ti PLEASE start to provide all design files in a format that can used by designers that don't have CADSTAR? It would be great if you could start with CC85XXEM so that I can start working on my design.

Thank you!

  • Hi Andrew,

There are currently no plans to update any of the PPW reference designs.

If you go to the "Quality and Packaging" tab on the CC85xx product pages, for example here: www.ti.com/.../quality , you can download a CAD symbol for the package itself which can be converted to the most popular CAD tools which you can use as a starting point.

    Cheers,
    Fredrik
  • Hi Fredrik,

Are you really saying that someone at TI can't take 5 minutes to open the native CADSTAR files, save them in archive format, and upload them here? The footprints are of no help to me as I wish to follow the TI reference layout. This is explicitly stated in TI's own documentation for this EVM!
  • Hi Andrew,

As it has been years since we used Cadstar the tool is not readily available unfortunately.

Following the reference design is just a matter of using the same relative placement for the components in your design as in the reference design.

    Cheers,
    Fredrik
  • Is there anyone out there that either has CADSTAR or a converted copy of the EM design files? Simply following the part location from the PDF is not going to result in a properly functioning PCB, particularly the RF critical areas. I would appreciate it if anyone can help me out as TI is unable to.
