CC2430: RF Studio

Part Number: CC2430
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2530, CC2630

I need your help to understand whether Smart RF studio 7 SW could display RX sensitivity of CC2430. I am able to measure RSSI and PER at given input signal level but I like to know the device sensitivity once the received packets are decoded. How RSSI is related to receive sensitivity of CC2430? Could I use RSSI as approx. metric for sensitivity?

  • You can use the packet error rate and RSSI to determine the sensitivity. CC2430 data sheet specifies the 1% PER sensitivity limit using 20 byte data payload. If you record the RSSI level when the PER is 1% you get the sensitivity limit. Shold be close to -92 dBm.

BTW: why are you using CC2430? This is part is not being made obsolete, but for new product development we recommend other, newer parts. CC2530 and CC2630 are alternatives.
