CC2420: CC2420 performance questions

Part Number: CC2420

I'm troubleshooting some boards utilizing the CC2420 transceiver.

I have some boards where the PN modulation is a little too high.  The limits are from 2000 to 5000, and the highest I'm getting is 5500.  The results are displayed as 5500 PN Mod OBCC240W.  What could be causing this?  The CC2420 part itself (which would be my guess) or an external part?

Another test that fails is the Carrier Power (there is no output), when tested by itself in a test fixture.  However, when I mate the RF board (which includes the CC2420) to the main board, the assembly does send out the proper identification ID!  Any ideas what could cause this?

Thank you for any responses!

  • Hi John,

These look like proprietary test procedures. Can you send us data in a graphical format or instrument plots?

How is the test fixture configured? what is the main board?

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

Sorry I don't have that information available.  The test fixture is enclosed in a clamshell for shielding, and has lots of wires and cables inside, using a bed of nails.  Not the best test setup.  The results show on the PC screen very fast, and there is no way to print them out.  I'll just have to do my best.  Hopefully, the next test fixture will be it easier for me to troubleshoot the RF Board.

    Thank you for the response!

    John
