TIDM-NFC-RW: TAG Reading Range of EVM

Hello,

We have tested this EVM and we are getting range around 6 CM at 18 DB gain.

We want higher range up to 12 CM, how can we increment the range with same EVM board.

Or Is there any external antenna available for this requirement.

NOTE: We want minimum power consumption and maximum range.

Kindly suggest proper way for this requirement.

    That is impressive range with our evaluation board. In general, even with an optimized system outside of our eval kits, it is difficult to exceed 10cm of range with our device.

    Please understand power consumption and range are directly proportional, and the range you are describing will require operation at 5V with full power and a very optimized setup on tag technology, antenna tuning, antenna size, and tag size to be able to manage. NFC is not meant for such ranges by default. Alternatively you could use a power amplifier but that draws more power consumption and TI does not support power amplifiers for our devices.
