Hello,

I have an MSP430F5529LP with a RF430CL330H NFC booster pack, and I can't seem to get anything working through either Code Composer or other third party compatible software (Energia).

Here's what i'm trying to do:

- Use the NFC booster pack for transmitting a URL to an NFC-compatible cell phone.

I'm not as much of a software guy as I am a hardware guy, so any help would be appreciated.

Hello Will,

for the combination of the MSP430F5529LP + RF430CL330H Booster Pack we do not have a ready to use firmware.

I would recommend buying a EX430G2 Launchpad with the MSP430G2553 because for this combination a sample software is provided which can send a NDEF message.

You can also adapt this sample code to your MSP430F5529LP but as you wrote software is not your favorite.....

Another solution would be the use of the RF430FRL152H chip which does not need an external microcontroller. The primary use is as sensor transponder but it can also send NDEF messages for which sample code is available.

Would you have access to some sample code or some kind of resource that I could use to allow my current Launchpad to interface properly with the NFC booster pack? (since you mentioned that sample code on the TI website can be manipulated to accommodate the board) Though code is not my specialty, I'm sure I could figure it out with some help. Thanks!

Hello Will,

We don't have a code example for the MSP-EXP430F5529LP and the DLP-RF430BP. The reason being is that the code required to run the DLP-RF430BP is very minimal and an MCU like the F5529 is absolute overkill for it. The code for the MSP-EXP430G2ET is easily portable if the RF430CL330H is desired to be used as a peripheral device. This also encourages adding the device as an addition to the main application rather than have the main application built around it.

One other option if you want to use the MSP-EXP430F5529LP would be to get a DLP-7970ABP and use the Card Emulation mode available on the TRF7970A: http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/sloa208
