CC8520: cc8520 slave have no data on DIN Pin

Part Number: CC8520
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3101

Hi

i am using the cc8520 with the tlv320aic3101 , and for project i have used one of the example of Pure path Wireless Configurator , and also i have used the Autonomous mode ,  the project that i have used is Preloaded Demo of the CC85XXDK ,  my cc8520 have the MCLK , BCLK , WCLK for the audio codec and also in the master i have the i2s data on the DOUT Pin , but at the slave i have no data on the DIN Pin and also the impedance of this pin to ground is about 100 ohm when master and slave have been paired , the slave and master paired to each other successfully and i have check this with the led pattern , and also the led pattern work in the active mode ,  with checking the board i am sure that the master and slave have communication with each other because when i change the FS at the master , the slave detect it and change the FS Clock to one that i have Choose at the master side , but with all of the state that i explained  i have no data at the Din Pin of the Slave and so i have no audio , anyone can help me to resolve this ?

thanks

  • Hi,

Sorry for the delay. I have forwarded your question to the relevant team. They will respond as soon as they can.

  • Hi,

Can you please elaborate on what HW you are using? Is this on a custom board or are you using one of the Purepath Wireless reference designs?

If this is a custom board do you have a reference design that you could use as a slave and see if it works then?

  • Hi

    thanks for your reply

i am using the Customs board , but i have designed it based on the CC85xx Evaluation board.

actually i check it and the slave and master have been paired , i can check it through the Status led that is in active mode , and also i change the FS at master side and its changed at the slave side ,

this means that these two board have been paired with each other but the last step is that i have no data at the DIN pin of the Slave , i connect the Audio input to the master board and i want to listen it as the slave board , when i connect the audio to the master board i have data on the Dout pin ,

i can send to you the schematics of it

    thanks

  • hi

    did you check my schematics?

  • Hi,

I have reviewed your schematic and I can't see anything that would explain what you are seeing.

    Questions:

    1. Have you tried running the slave on more than one of your board?
    2. If you remove R15, do you see any data on DIN from CC8520 then?
    3. Are you using any of the PurePath Wireless Configurator example projects or have you made your own?

  • Hi

    thanks for your reply

your meaning from these sentences “I have reviewed your schematic and I can't see anything that would explain what you are seeing” is that my schematic have problem or dont have any problem ?

1)i have tried the slave in two slave board at both of them have same function.

    2) yes i have removed the R15 and i have not seen any data on the output of the cc8620

    3) no i have not build any  configuration by my own and i have only program the examples of the purepath.

now i want that control the cc8520 through the micro controllers ,  do you think it will help me ?

can you give me an code of purepath configuration that work well and i program and  check the finction?

  • Hi,

The schematic looks ok with regards to the connection to the audio codec. For the RF part I can't say since we have never tried with the Gali74 but according to the datasheet it looks like the frequency range is only DC to 1GHz. CC8520 operates on 2.4GHz so it will probably not work well with the Gali74. Have you done any RF tests on your board? I also noticed that you are not using a 48 MHz crystal but instead it looks like a TCXO?

What Purepath example did you try with? The CC85XXDK Preloaded Demo should work more or less out of the box on your HW (except remove Range extender).

  • hi

you are right , the Gali74 is not for this frequency so I substitute it with Gali06 ,  and i have also check the RF , and i have the RF signal correctly at the input of the cc8520 at the slave , and i have the RF signal at the output of the Gali06 , and also i said that these master and slave board paired with each other , i have checked the status led and i understand that it is in active mode , and also i say that when i changed in the master board for example the sampling frequency , the sampling frequency changed at the slave board based on my change , all of these test show that my rf signal and also the cc8520 is ok

i have used oscilator instead of xtal , is it important?i have used xtal ?

i think that the output of the slave is mute , and i can not what is the reason ,

i program the preload demo  of the purepath wireless , and you are right it work right and correctly config the tlv320aic3101 and i have the sampling frequency , the bit clock , the mclk , and also i can change the number of the channel hoping and the other thing , the only problem is that my slave board is mute and have no output , i think it is mute , have you any solution that i check it? have you any purepath program that work correct and i program and check my board?

    thanks

  • Hi,

If you use a unmodified PurePath Wireless Configurator CC85XXDK Preloaded Demo example and flash your Master and Slave with that you still don't get sounds out of your slave? If this is the case I suspect the problem is in your HW. Can you share your layout files? Gerber, Altium or Cadence?
