TIDC-CC3200-VIDEO: Problem finding reference info on CC3200-MODULE needed in the design

Part Number: TIDC-CC3200-VIDEO
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200MOD, , CC3200-LAUNCHXL, CC3200

Hi, my team is trying to develop the TIDC-CC3200-VIDEO design. We are following the user guide which is linked below. However, we are confused about what the CC3200MOD is, and we cannot really find much reference documentation online. The product link does not have the red semicircle PCB included with it on the TI website under this link: http://www.ti.com/product/CC3200MOD/toolssoftware. We are following the guide “SimpleLink CC3200-OV788 Video and Audio Streaming Over Wi-Fi Reference Design”, and on pages 3, 4, 12 and 13, the guide mentioned the CC3200-MODULE board.

However, this item is not listed in the prerequisites for this design.

We currently have the following hardware parts and the link of where we get them:

We tried to search online for instructions or tutorials on the CC3200-MODULE, but we did not find any reasonable results specifically the one with the red semicircle PCB listed in the user guide. Can you please let us know what this part is and why do we need it for the project? Thank you very much!

  • Hi,

That CC3200-MODULE board was only produced for internal test and evaluation of that TI design. The design files are provided so that you can manufacture it on your own if needed. It is not available for purchase.

I highly suggest that you take a look at the CC3220 version of that design instead, as that version uses the CC3220 launchpad and not a custom CC3200 module board:

One issue to keep in mind is that both the CC3200 and CC3220 versions of that TI design is meant to be used with the OV788 reference board. You are not able to interface only the OV9712 sensor to the CC32xx. That EVM may be hard to procure. See this E2E thread for more information: https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/wifi/f/968/p/835733/3091540#3091540

Let me know if you need more clarification on the options available or have further questions on the CC32xx devices.

    Regards,

    Michael
