RF430F5978EVM: The test application can not find Microreader II and UHF Access Point even though device drivers are installed successfully in Windows 10 64bit.

Part Number: RF430F5978EVM

Hello.

I installed device drivers successfully by the procedure in the following answer.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/other-wireless/f/667/t/847227?tisearch=e2e-quicksearch&keymatch=RF430F5978EVM

However, the test application still can not find the devices.

How to solve this problem?

Regards,

Sungho Park.

  • Hello Sungho,

from what I can see from your screenshots, the driver installation an the devices look ok.

The RF430F5978EVM software is searching for these device-names and automatically connects to it when the "Connect" button is pressed.

To be honest, if this mechanism is not working there is less you can do. I have verified this at different Win10 64bit PCs without problems when the drivers are successfully installed. Have you the possibility to try this at a different PC?

The only help I can give you is with a program dedicated for the Microreader to verify if you can communicate with the reader. Start the program and select the Microreader COM port. Then select the "Reader Configuration" Tab and press the "Get" button. This should read out the current configuration from the Microreader and confirms that the communication with the reader is ok.

    MicroreaderII_V3_6.zip

Due to the current Corona restrictions I work from home and don't have access to the EVM for further testing.

  • Hello Helfried,

I have tried on another Windows 10 64bit PC and a Windows 7 PC.

However, it doesn't work on both PC.

I used the software at the following link.

    * www.ti.com/.../slrc001

Did you use the same software?

Can I get the software that you used?

And, "MicroreaderII_5F00_V3_5F00_6.zip" that you sent me works well.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

  • Hello Sungho,

I use the same software as you.

When you press the "Connect" button the software is searching the connected device by name.

I looked at the source and can show you this part:

This means if the name, found in the Windows Devicemanager, does not match exactly it will not work.

I noticed a difference in the name between my PC and yours. Before the bracket I see a black character on my PC:

This could be the case that the software will not find the device.

Can you please try if it possible to go to the windows registry and edit this name?

    Best regards,

    Helfried

  • Hello Helfried,

I changed the name as you tell me.
    It works now. :-)

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Sungho Park
