TRF7970A: About Device#B03 NFC-F Peer-to-Peer Mode Preamble

Genius 5300 points
Part Number: TRF7970A

Hi experts,

I would like to confirm the contents of the TRF7970A Silicon Errata (Rev. B), so could you please let me know?
*SLOZ011B–February 2014–Revised December 2016

1)As for Device#B03, if it is "Sony FeliCa Cards and presence to NFC-F products based on JIS X 6319 -4", even the 56-bit preamble does not affect the operation in p2p mode, is it correct?

2)Do you mean you don't need Workaround for the above reasons?

3)However, is it correct that the 56-bit preamble does not conform to the latest NFC-FeliCa definition?

Currently, my customer wants to use TRF7970A as a Felica tag to communicate with a smartphone (sending and receiving) in P2P mode.
The application note they refer to is "NFC active and passive peer-to-peer communication using the TRF7970A".

Best Regards,
O.H

It's been a bit since I went into the details of this but if I remember right, P2P can be impacted if it is expecting the 48-bit preamble. But so far we have not seen any interoperability concerns regarding that for Type F.

Well, there isn't a workaround. It's a matter of functional vs non functional.

Correct, my understanding is that the definitions changed after the silicon was defined.

  • Hi Ralph Jacobi,

    Thank you for your reply.
    I understood it.
