I am using Vayu EVM (J6). I would want to work on Android bluetooth stack. For this do i need to use Wilink8 Module connected to Audio ports of VAYU board or do we need to connect VAYU board to JAM3 APP board which in turn connected to Wilink8 module. I understood that 6AO.1.1 SDK does not support Bluetooth in that case how can we test a modified Bluetooth stack Functionality.

Hi Vinay,

You will need access to the UART, and one GPIO pin (to control BT_EN). I'm not completely familiar with the Vayu EVM, but in addition to the WL8 COM8 evaluation module, we have an SDMMC adapter board the allows direct plugin:

This is commonly used with the Sitara EVMs but requires a blue wire for the BT_EN.

We don't currently directly support Android with WL8, but we have many customers that have been successful here using the HiKey kernel trees in the Android source repositories. I'll ask some of our experts to followup if you have more questions.

Hi Travis,

For Wilink8 to work with Jacinto6 based on 6AO.1.1 what are the changes you suggest.

If you have a reference to the steps I can follow it will be helpful

Queries:

Do I take the Hikey Android Source as base and perform the changes for Jacinto.

2. I understand that the Lollipop version of Android for Jacinto6 had Bluetooth support. Would porting WIlink8 Driver and board changes to make it work for Lollipop would be a better approach

3. Is it possible to share the Lollipop version of the Android for Jacinto based on which I can port the changes for Wilink8.

Please suggest what would be a better approach.

As you had suggested can you ask some of your experts to suggest me the right solution.

You had suggested to port the Hikey to Jacinto6evm. I need some inputs on what part of the below patches need to be taken for Jacinto for Android 6AO.1.1 where Bluetooth support is disabled.

Hi,

HIKEY960 board uses WL8 module, and is a Google's Android reference board. The idea is to take the BT HAL/HIDL references from HIKEY repository and port it to your Android builds. You would also need to enable the shared transport driver in the kernel (please check HIKEY kernel config file). You are based on K4.4 kernel with Android8 (Oreo) version right?
