RF430CL330H: Harmonic of RF430CL330H

Part Number: RF430CL330H

Hi team,

When our customer test RF430CL330H, they find that besides the 13.56MHz, the output also has four-order, six-order and eight-order harmonic, which can not pass the EC standard. Besides, if cut off the power of RF430CL330H, it will absorb energy and still output the harmonic component. And they have tested other device on the board to make sure the harmonic is output by the RF430CL330H. We’d like to know what caused the harmonic and how to reduce the harmonic, by software or something?

Best regards,

Wendy

  • Hello Wendy,

the RF430CL330H is not a so called "Intentional Radiator" which means it will not generate RF by itself. It will only damp the RF provided by the reader to modulate the carrier when requested. From my knowledge a certification is not necessary as long as the transponder operates only passive. Because you wrote they cut off the power it seems it is an active device. Because the RF430CL330H can work as passive device it will rectify the applied RF from the reader to supply its internal circuitry. Still it will not transmit any RF.

So far I have never heard about a problem of generated harmonics from other customers and we have no solution for reducing them.
