CC2592: Is there any solution to achieve double antennas for the extended transmission distance?

Our design TIDC-CC2530-CC2592EMK-RD showed the range extender design for single antenna. Customer would like to check whether there are any solutions to achieve the range extender for double antennas. Could you please help check it? Thank you.

Hi,

Usually two antennas are used in diversity application. These are oriented in such a way that if at one antenna the RSSI is lower than the other antenna the radio switches to the RF path with higher RSSI value. This improves packet drop performance and may (or may not) help to achieve better range.

FI,

Thank you. One more question about the GND pins, 1, 4, 9, 11, 12, 16 are all GND pins, but in our datasheet, Table 3-1, it is indicated that only terminals 9, 11, and 12 should be shorted to the die attach pad on the top PCB layer. Could you please help explain it? Thank you.

I am not sure about the reason for that, but please follow the reference design and layout.

The EVM schematic connected all the GND pins together, so the datasheet really confused us.

Yes, thanks for pointing it out. I will discuss with the design team.

But its safe to use the EVM reference designs that we have put online. These have been tested thoroughly.
