Hello

We will ask about design information with RF430-TMPSNS-EVM.

1) Although the RF430-TMPSNS-EVM is a double-sided board, please let us know the points to be noted when designing on a single-sided board.

2) Especially the antenna is designed on both sides, I want to know how to design on one side.

3) The 3RF430-TMPSNS-EVM has an antenna design on both sides. Why is this design method?

Hello,

there are no special design rules for a single sided layout.

The design of the antenna coil with a double sided layout has the advantage of a larger active antenna area on the same size which gives more reading distance for the transponder. (active antenna area = average coil diameter). Because the coil is a spiral a double sided layout let you easier wire both ends to the device.

In the design with a single layer board, the GND plane on the back side can not be drawn. How should I do?

Hello,

the GND plane is not a requirement for the design, but without it, it will be hard to maintain a proper GND connection for a parts.

Especially the connection of the VSS Pad in the center of the RF430FRL152H device will be a problem. From my side I would not recommend a single sided design.
