WL1837MODCOM8I: WiFi interface test using RTT tool not running

Part Number: WL1837MODCOM8I

We are trying to test  the WL1837MODCOM8I-SDMMC: WL1837MODCOM8 and SDMMC adapter bundle.

We have the WL1837MODCOM8 plugged into the SDMMC adapter and the SDMMC adapter being connected to a laptop via SD card slot. The RTT tool is being used for testing WiFi

But we are unable to get the board running. Below are the snapshot of the application window and  the observations. Requesting the support to get the kit up and running.

  1. The application shows the status as Not Connected
  2. If clicked on Connect, the error appears as  Connection Failed: Calling Connect Target Returned 4
  3. There is a message at the bottom of the application showing Net status : Closed. What is it means?

The LEDs on the board glows when the board is plugged into the SDIO slot and after few seconds all of them goes OFF. We are setting the jumpers for operation in host mode and power from SDIO slot. Please let us know if we are missing any other steps by any chance.

Regards

  • Have you referenced the following:

The COM8 board plugs into the COM8 connector of the SDMMC adapter board, the PC is connected via USB cable to the Mini USB Conn on the adapter board.  The board is powered via USB.  Don't use the SD card slot on the PC.

  • Hi Travis,

Thanks a lot for the response.

Yes, we have referred the documents. But our intention is to verify certain electrical parameters on the SDIO interface inorder to validate certain observations in our actual design. So is there any way the SDIO interface can be made operational to check the electrical parameters on the SDIO interface lines?

  • Thomas,

Let me try to pull in someone from the HW team then, as they will be able to help you better.  It wasn't apparent from your initial post what exactly you were after other than hooking up the WL COM8 and adapter to the PC.

  • Hi Travis,

Thanks a lot for your support. Will wait for the update from HW team. Expecting the resolution soon.

  • Thomas,

BTW, if you are trying to verify the SDIO interface or look at certain electrical characteristics on that bus, you will not be able to use RTTT at all.  RTTT uses the serial interface to the controller, in this debug mode, the WL8 won't use the SDIO interface.  If you really want to look at the interface, you will need to get a host board, like the Beaglebone Black () and tap off the connector to view the signals.
