CC2500: Output power vs low temperature

Expert 3745 points

Dear e2e support,

My customer is facing some issue on his end product (already in production), when it's used at low temperature:

The CC2500 output power is dropping suddenly (up to 7dB) when the temperature decreases around -35°C (between -32°C to -37°C to be exact).

We are supposed to work down to -40°C, but I don't see any output power data vs temperature, in our datasheet.

Do we have some?

Would you have any explanation?

Regards,

  • This is the test data I could find on 6 devices:

meaning that what you see is not expected, the output power is expected to increase when lowering the temp.

Have you checked that the synth is actually calibrated and in lock when doing this measurement? Do you see any change if you do a new SCAL on -40 degrees?
