Hello everyone,

I am using CCS to debug RF430FRL152HEVM, hoping to use the printf () function to print out the progress of the mode, but the printf function fails to print successfully. I have tried the configuration method provided in the forum, but it still does not work. I hope you can help me.

Amanda,

the printf function is very memory consuming. This is the reason why you can configure the level of printf support in the MSP compiler options.

I would not recommend using the printf function at all. If it is just for debug purpose you can tried using breakpoints. In the breakpoint properties you can define that when reaching the breakpoint address only an update of watched values is done and the program continues running. Maybe that helps for debugging.

I'm also looking to configure the printf/sprintf function. Where in the "MSP compiler operations" can you change the setting? I'm having trouble printing an unsigned long variable.

Not sure I get a reply to "something doesn't work" of "Don't use it". Often projects are developed on chips with more memory than the final target part so that you _can_ use printf and more code to debug...

OK, found it. Need to be in "no float" to print %lu (unsigned longs). tnx.
