Good day, we received inquiry from customer and want to know some information about TIDM-DYNAMICNFCTAG. For me to not miss any information, Ill copy the query below.

"What is the maximum read range for the Dynamic Near Field Communication (NFC) Type 4B Tag
TIDM-DYNAMICNFCTAG? What reader / tag combination from TI will support > 40 cm?"

Hello Maynard,

depending on the RFID reader that is used I would expect the read range for the TIDM-DYNAMICNFCTAG at max. 5cm to 10 cm.

On the reader side TI does only offer Evaluation modules with the TRF7970A. A RF reader that can support > 40cm is not available.

Is there a link model or link budget available? How do you model the receiver S/N ratio for example .vs. distance to tag in order to understand the distance that can be supported?

Hello Stephen,

we don't have these information available. The tags defined in the ISO14443A/B standard are defined as proximity cards which means only for short distances. These cards are tested again the ISO/IEC10373-6 Test Methods. This standard defines a procedure to measure the subcarrier levels generated during the load modulation. I am not aware of S/N definitions for the receiver side.
