What is the significance of “SYS_CLK” pin in TRF7970.?

In TRF7970 evm schematic this pin is connected to the XIN of controller.

Is it possible to use two different oscillators for MCU and TRF7970 IC?

You can use clocking from TRF to clock your MCU using SYS_CLK. You can use different oscillators for MCU and TRF radio. SYS_CLK is not connected in that case. All this is described in TRF7970a datasheet.

not sure which schematic you are looking at...but SYS_CLK is never connected to XIN...always use a crystal or oscillator there (13.56MHz or 27.12MHz), register 0x09 controls the output of SYS_CLK based on crystal being used.
