We're looking to find a replacement part in active production for the RI-TRP-W9WK wedges.

The TRPG40ATGC says it has an 80-Bit Customer-Configurable Transponder (CCT) which made me think it would be the same thing.

We received a few samples in, but while they read just fine, they won't accept the write command we were sending.

We're using the TMS3705A and the same read/write routines as the RI-TRP-W9WK. I haven't been able to find anything like a detailed data sheet for the TRPG40ATGC (just the short summarys on the TI website).

Is there anywhere that has more information on using/programming these?

The RI-TRP-W9WK required a keyword (0xBB) and password (0xEB) to be sent with the user data to be programmed. Has this perhaps changed?

I can post code/etc to show exactly what we're doing

Doing a regular read I noticed the vial sends back a "Read Only" (0x7E) transponder tag type. If this is read-only what are these 80 Customer-Configurable Transponder (CCT) bits?

if it comes back as 0x7E for start and stop bytes - its read only - if you read 0xFE, then its R/W tag.
would explain why you cannot write it.

I understand that, but what are these 80 bits of Customer Configurable data? It made it sound like a R/W transponder

The CCT indeed was/still is R/W
the transponder you are using is not one of those, based on the start and stop bytes you reported

That's odd then. The data sheet says it's a CCT device, but the samples I got in responding with the read only tag. Is there something I'm missing here perhaps?

I want explain a few things regarding the TRPGP40ATGC.

This transponder is configurable with the restriction that it can only be programmed with a so called "Animal ID" which means the MSbit of the ID must be set to "1".

Because it is an OTP (one time programmable) type transponder the startbyte will be that of the R/O type and not the R/W. Programming of this transponder is possible with RI-STU-MRD2 reader and the Microreader2 PC software.

Do to this, a direct replacement of the W9WK is not possible with the CCT Trp.
