CC1312R: RTC Accuracy

Hi Experts,

Our customer is asking the accuracy of RTC. I believe it depends on 32 kHz RC Oscillator. How should we answer this?

Can I have your Expert’s advice/comments on this, please?

From the data sheet:

The frequency accuracy of the Real Time Clock (RTC) is not directly dependent on the frequency accuracy of the 32-kHz RC Oscillator.

The RTC can be calibrated by measuring the frequency error of RCOSC_LF relative to XOSC_HF and compensating for the RTC tick speed.

Thank you for your comments on this.

I understood the RTC can be calibrated by measuring the frequency error of RCOSC_LF. However, customer is asking RTC accuracy. How should I answer this question?

Is it difficult to say this accuracy value?

Hi,

If using the internal RCOSC_LF, then the accuracy is ± 500 ppm.

Note that most devices will have this accuracy but not all. The software should be written in a way that can account for that some devices could have up to around +/- 1500 ppm
