CC1310: Can CC1310 use TCXO?

Part Number: CC1310
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1312R, CC1311R3

Hi TI,

Our customer has a requirement to transfer data under deviation +-3K.

I have  few questions

1. Is it possible to do deviation +-3K using XO?

2. If we use FSK, GFSK, and deviation 3K, how much should we control the XO frequency deviation?

3. Why does TI not recommend CC1310 with TCXO, Are there any side effects if using TCXO on CC1310?

  • 1. It is possible to use a smaller frequency deviation but this will degrade the sensitivity as well for the minimum Rx bandwidth allowed on CC1310.

    2. Signal BW  = Data rate + 2 x frequency deviation.

Required RX filter bandwidth can be approximated as :Signal BW  + 4*ppm xtal*Frequency of operation

    3. CC1310 does not support using an TCXO, you'll need to use CC1312R or CC1311R3 if you want to use an external oscillator.
