My customer need assistance.

Hi there, I am part of a design team that is currently using TI's CC1110 chip onboard one of our projects. We are currently doing a noise analysis of our system, and I was wondering if you could provide the following parameters:

  1. Noise figure and maximum gain of the internal LNA in the receive path of the CC1110 radio module.
  2. Noise figure of the mixer in the second stage of the receive path of the CC1110 radio module.

    For cascade noise figure calculations, please use a NF of 11 dB and SNR of 9 dB for CC1110 and CC1111.

    I got the reply from customer:
    Thank you for your reply! My understanding is that this 9dB SNR is the minimum SNR required to achieve a given packet error for a given packet length - what packet length and error rate would 9dB SNR achieve? My team is designing for a 437MHz, 9600 baud, NFSK modulated system with a bit error rate of 1e-5 for a 256 byte length packet, so I just wanted to check if the 9dB value is for similar specs. Also, is the 11dB NF the NF at the output of the internal LNA?

  • For cascade noise figure calculations, the overall NF for CC1110 / CC1111 is 11 dB and the SNR of 9 dB.

    This is all the information required to make link budget calculations with external LNAs or FEMs.
