CC1110-CC1111: measure the current consumption of my CC1110 while in sleep mode but I'm having some issues

Part Number: CC1110-CC1111

Hi Team,

Good day. I am posting this inquiry on behalf of the customer.

"I'm trying to measure the current consumption of my CC1110 while in sleep mode but I'm having some issues.

I'm using the smart rf04EB and using the powermode2 code provided by texas

I'm measuring 0.2mA current when it is supposed to be around 0.5 uA

I saw in this post, https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/sub-1-ghz-group/sub-1-ghz/f/sub-1-ghz-forum/16707/cc1110-pm2-pm3-sleep-current, that if you change some inputs the current will drop and that using the board that I'm using I can not get the correct value, however, by changing the ports to pull down, shouldn't the current drop even with my current board (smart rf04EB)? because that is not the case.

I am just sending the code that I'm using also, for the case"

Thank you for extending your help. Your support is much appreciated.

Kind regards,

  • Hi Marvin

Unfortunately, I do not have available HW at the moment to measure this, but I could see from a very old post that I had experienced problems with this before (getting correct current consumption on the 04EM compared to on the battery board.

Not an HW expert, but I will assume that this is because of some peripherals etc. connected to some of the pins on the CC1110 when used on the EB board, which are not present on the battery board.

You could try to set all the pins to input (I see you set some LED pins to output) and see if that helps.

You can also try to physically disconnect the different port pins to try to figure out what exactly draws the extra current.
