CC1352R: Full duplex radio implementation using half duplex rf modules

Part Number: CC1352R

 Hi,

How can I implement a radio for full duplex communication in either Sub-1 GHz & 2.4 GHz band using half duplex RF modules (transceivers or wireless MCUs) offered by TI?

Thank you

  • Hi,

I can only speak for our Wireless Connectivity products, but if you need to transmit and receive at the same time at the same frequency (e.g. with two devices), they would likely interfere with each other due to the TX device blocking the RX device, degrading the RX performance.

So, you would need to ensure that your boards were performing TX/RX at different frequencies at a given time - as the devices were not designed for full duplex, we have not developed a full duplex solution.

    Regards,

    Zack

  • In CC1352R, can we use sub-1 GHz band, say 433MHz, and the 2.4GHz channels simultaneously but one in TX and the other in RX mode?

    Thank you

  • You could test this with two LaunchPads very close to each other (one operating at 433 MHz and the other at 2.4 GHz) to emulate the scenario you need. This would help give an indication of whether this would be achievable or not.

You would need two CC1352R devices for operating at 2.4 GHz TX and 433 MHz RX (or vice-versa) at the same time, though, because as mentioned previously there is only one radio front-end.

    Regards,

    Zack
