Hi,

With the release of the simplelink SDK 8.30.00.121, is it still necessary to patch the is_net_stack_up function for the router node with wfantund to work?

I may be doing something wrong, but the ns_node project with wfantund is not connecting to my border router, regardless of whether the patch is applied.

The only command I'm running on the router node is wfanctl set interface:up true, as it is supposed to automatically bring the stack up once the node joins the network, according to the wfantund README.

Is it supposed to just work with the ns_node project and wfantund or are there some additional steps to do?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mauricio,

yes, the procedure to set-up the network should still be the same.

Just to clarify, your setup is 1 border router connected to a wfantund host and 1 router node connected to a wfantund host.
You opened the network on the border router and run the interface up true command on the router node. Then you waited until the node connected to the border router. After the node joined the network you run the stack up true command?

Thank you for the response. If I understood correctly, we still need to patch the application.c file, and run `wfanctl stack:up true` when the router node connects. Is that correct?

In addition, I tested the ns_node project from the TI website SDK and it worked. What happened is that we have some modifications to the SDK code, and it seems like these modifications broke something about the ns_node code and it does not work anymore (the firmware does not transmit anything, so it never connects to the border router). I will investigate what is the problem.

Hi Theo,

To clarify, when I said it worked with TI website SDK, I meant it was transmitting as expected, I did not test connecting to the border router. That is why I asked about the application.c patch and `wfanctl stack:up true`.

Hi Theo,

I was able to find the problem, and now the firmware is working as expected.

However, I think the information that we need to change is application.c file is incorrect with the latest release of wfantund and SDK. I tested with the modification, and after the `wfanctl set interface:up true` command, the state transitions immediately to the associated state, and the stack also transitions to `Stack is up`.

If I undo the modification, the firmware behaves as expected, as it only transitions to the associated state and `Stack is up`after the router node connects to the border router.

To summarize, it works correctly if I don't modify the application.c file, and I just run the `wfanctl set interface:up true` command.

I had no chance yet to upgrade my local setup. It is great to hear that it runs now correctly without the modification and I will get on updating our instructions.
