Hi,

I'd like to know if is it possible to configure the phyTxPower during runtime or do I need to set the value I want before starting the Wi-SUN network.

If I need to configure it before starting the Wi-SUN network, where should I do it?

Hi Eduardo,

the recommended procedure would be to set the txPower before starting the Wi-SUN stack by changing the tx power parameter in the radio configuration. You can trace from SysConfig where the TX power parameter is populated in code (radio_config.c; wisunfan_config.h).

Additionally you have any time direct access to the radio core using the direct radio commands: https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/content/simplelink_cc13xx_cc26xx_sdk_8_30_01_01/docs/proprietary-rf/proprietary-rf-users-guide/rf-core/commands.html#immediate-and-direct-commands

You could evaluate if changing the TX power on the fly using them is sufficient.

1. From application.c file I see that cfg_props.phyTxPower = CONFIG_TRANSMIT_POWER, so could I just modify this value before calling mesh_error_t nanostack_wisunInterface_configure(void)?

2. Using the direct radio commands I could configure Tx power during run time, then? The parameter txPowerCommand.txPower is the value in dBm in the hex format? For example, if I want to set +20 dBm I should send txPowerCommand.txPower=14 or it is another kind of convertion?

Hi Eduardo,

The TX power values are a bit more complicated than that. I would recommend using SysConfig to generate the tx power values that you need for your device. E.g. 13 dBm corresponds to 0xB224.

I am also not sure if updating this value at runtime will work, or whether the TI Wi-SUN Stack will overwrite the Tx output power.

Okay, I think it is better to configure the TX power using the Wi-SUN Stack, then. Could you please confirm if this modification should be done before calling mesh_error_t nanostack_wisunInterface_configure(void)?
