Hi,

in the datasheet of CC110L, the sensitivity criteria is under PER. with PER, it should be under a specific packet Length.

other CC part used BER.

could you please explain what the test method of this sensitivity?

Hi Albin,

The basic test procedure for Rx Sensitivity testing is given in Section 6.1 and Section 7.1 of SWRA370 (Basic RF Testing of CCxxxx Devices): https://www.ti.com/lit/swra370

The BER is sometimes specified in a communication standard's specification, so the Rx Sensitivity performance is sometimes given in that format for easier evaluation by customers - more recent devices list a combination in the datasheet, depending on the standard. As most radio systems use packets, this is why the CC110L measures in PER (BER is then calculated from the PER).

PER can be easily be used to directly calculate BER, see:

Just convert the PER to BER, Basically you have a packet being rendered useless by a bit error unless you have some sort of error correction.

Hi Zack,

Just read Torstein's reply, the PER is tested with "use a 3 byte payload"

this is the answer I want to confirm.

I also asked customer to do the test with 3B payload.

Albin, CC1120 has been tested with 3 byte payload, no length byte etc but not sure if that has been the case for the CC1101 family. Zack, check the old setup for the CC1101 testing, I believe that it for some reason was used 20 byte payload.
