AFE7950EVM: Clarification on AFE7950EVM Frequency Range and Balun Options

Part Number: AFE7950EVM

Tool/software:

dear Ti team,

This is regarding the AFE7950EVM evaluation board. As per the datasheet, the board supports signal generation from 600 MHz to 12 GHz with 4 transmit channels, each with 1200 MHz bandwidth. On the receive side, it supports 6 channels – 4 channels with 1200 MHz bandwidth and 2 channels with 600 MHz bandwidth.

I would like to understand if replacing the balun on the EVM could extend or optimize its operation in the 600 MHz to 6.5 GHz range for signal generation. Could you please suggest an alternate balun part number suitable for this modification, so we can test the AFE7950EVM in this band?

Requesting your guidance on possible solutions for the existing AFE7950EVM board.

  • Hi Pradeep,

Yes, replacing the balun can help optimize performance for other bands. Unfortunately we do not have any balun recommendations for your frequency range that share the same footprint. The closest one I can recommend is the NCR2-113+, but this only goes down to 3.5GHz.

    Regards,
