Power consumption of TI-15.4STACK

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310, CC1350

Can TI provide results of power consumption test for TI-15.4STACK?
There are listed that it's low power, but nowhere is described how much low.
It's required to assessing of applicability of this stack for some application,

  • Hi Vladimir,

The TI 15.4STACK was designed to be used by low power device and minimize its power consumption. Therefore, you must look at the specific devices that are intended to be used by the stack.

I have copied some power consumption information found in the datasheet of the CC1310:

    • Active-Mode RX: 5.5 mA
    • Active-Mode TX at +10 dBm: 12.9 mA
    • Active-Mode MCU 48 MHz Running Coremark: 2.5 mA (51 µA/MHz)
    • Active-Mode MCU: 48.5 CoreMark/mA
    • Active-Mode Sensor Controller at 24 MHz: 0.4 mA + 8.2 µA/MHz
    • Sensor Controller, One Wake Up Every Second Performing One 12-Bit ADC Sampling: 0.85 µA
    • Standby: 0.6 µA (RTC Running and RAM and CPU Retention)
    • Shutdown: 185 nA (Wakeup on External Events)

Here is the same info from the CC1350 (the CC1350 is a dual band chip, hence the BLE information):

    • RX: 5.4 mA (Sub-1 GHz), 6.4 mA (Bluetooth low energy, 2.4 GHz)
    • TX at +10 dBm: 13.4 mA (Sub-1 GHz)
    • TX at +9 dBm: 22.3 mA (Bluetooth low energy, 2.4 GHz)
    • TX at +0 dBm: 10.5 mA (Bluetooth low energy, 2.4 GHz)
    • Active-Mode MCU 48 MHz Running Coremark: 2.5 mA (51 µA/MHz)
    • Active-Mode MCU: 48.5 CoreMark/mA
    • Active-Mode Sensor Controller at 24 MHz: 0.4 mA + 8.2 µA/MHz
    • Sensor Controller, One Wakeup Every Second Performing One 12-Bit ADC Sampling: 0.95 µA
    • Standby: 0.7 µA (RTC Running and RAM and CPU Retention)
    • Shutdown: 185 nA (Wakeup on External Events)

    Regards,

    Michel

  • Hello Michal,

I know all these values. But there are no answer.
Because we don't know how long SoC staying in each of these modes when TI-15.4STACK run. So we can't calculate summary values.

I will clarify my question: How TI-15.4STACK affects on power consumption?
Can you provide current consumption values for CC1310 in some node modes/configurations in TI-15.4STACK network?
  • According to my experiences testing on CC1310LP sensor node, I can see the power consumption is about 8uA@3V when device is under sleeping mode. The TX and RX are like those values in data sheet.
