CC115LEM-868-915-RD: CC115LEM pass certification? What is the TX Power setting?

Hi Team,

My customer need to go for FCC certification. And we've two questions need your confirmation:

1) Is our CC115LEM-868-915-RD pass certification? Can we get the certification materials?

2) What's the TX Power setting for FCC certification?

  • I could not find any FCC certification reports for CC115LEM-868-915-RD.

    On the other hand we very rarely share these reports with customers. The reason is that a certification is done for a product. An example: Our certifications for the value line series are typically done with EM + TRXEB + antenna + test software. If any of these changes the certification is no longer valid. Since a customer product typically is very different from our certification setup the certification we have done is not relevant for the customer.

    The output power they should use will be dependent on the antenna etc.

    Thanks! Could you give some guidance on TX power setting for different antenna. If possible, could you internally share one FCC certification documents for myself study. 

  • What could be possible to do is to look at the datasheet for the antenna in question and do some calculations. If they, as a an example, want 0 dBm out, they can look at the efficiency of the antenna and calculate what they have to set the conducted power to to get the wanted on the air. Also note that often is is a requirement on how much you can send max in one direction so the gain on the antenna also has to be considered.

    For our CC11x value line FCC certificated EVM, do we have a communication rage testing for open air environment? The reason behind is that for my customer, they need reduce TX power to pass certification, BUT range is reduced accordingly. So we need check if our FCC certificate solution can have further optimization.

  • No. We do range testing from time to time to get maximum range but those are normally done with one node high above ground for optimal range. Also range testing is difficult to reproduce exactly in a different location due to the impact of surroundings (terrain, noise) on the range.

    Are they aiming for 15.249 or 15.247? Note that output power can be increased if they use frequency hopping or a 500 kHz wide spectrum.
