Hello,

I would need assistance with selection of a RF module for IoT sensor project.

Requirements:
- Very low power (With timer on and during send/receive)

- As long transmission distance as possible

- 868MHz with integrated stack (ZigBee or other) or in other way suitable for rapid development against an gateway system of choice.

- Mesh features are not required.

A question to the headline: Do you actually want to use CC1100? Have you looked into CC1310?

Thank you, CC1310 looks like a suitable alternative.

My follow-up question is: In order to setup a point-to-point communication I would need a protocol and stack, preferably with the key-exchange and all other features implemented. What protocols could this device run? For example, would it be possible to use ZigBee? Also, does TI provide any embedded software and Dev Suites for the subGHz wireless products?

You are operating on 868 MHz, then you can look into the 15.4 stack (dev.ti.com/.../index-cc13x0.html )

Look into the SDK (dev.ti.com/.../ ) for what we have of examples and documentation.

Thank you for your time, your suggestions are very helpful.

Looking at the stack provided I wonder how the solution is licensed in commercial products? Also, are there gateway-type products to buy or must I implement a gateway on my own using cc1310 or similiar chip?

If you install the SDK you can find the license file here: C:\ti\simplelink_cc13x0_sdk_<>\docs\ti154stack

Do a google search for "cc1310 sensor to cloud" and you will find the link to a couple of TI designs. Some are also available as a kit, like
