BOOSTXL-CC1120-90: does the board has to be activated?

Hello all,

I was reading the manual and had a doubt, the manual says activation of the device is needed to connect to a Sigfox network.
But in case I am doing R&D can I issue AT commands to the board(i.e. ID?) by default, or the complete project needs to be flashed in the board?

You will need the complete project for the Sigfox solution to work.

If you want some Uplink signal from the device, you will need the project. The Sigfox API checks for the credentials and only then allows uplink signals on the radio.

I see, so basically the device is locked to connect only to "Real" sigfox base stations...
what i was trying to do is to simulate a base station and observe the device response.

On what device are you trying to simulate Sigfox bases station? Note that Sigfox uses BPSK modulation during uplink. If you are simulating a basestation, that means you will be performing BPSK demodulation on your device.

My setup would use a Arbitrary generator on the downlink and a Spectrum analyzer to measure the response. This is no problem for me.
What I really needed to do is to manually control the device to send Sigfox-compliant data OTA.
But as you said earlier, the device can only send uplink data in Sigfox standard if it has been activated.
