CC115L: Protect CC115L proprietary configuration

Part Number: CC115L

Hi

In order to protect customer proprietary configuration. They don't want others can read out register setting especially sync word.

Is there any method to protect this? Thanks.

  • CC115L is a transmitter that does not have protection on the registers. But on the other hand, the registers are RAM meaning that when the power is off the content is lost. Again this means that to be able to read the register settings from CC115L it has to be done when the power is on and the MCU has initialized the radio. Then a second MCU has to take control over the SPI bus which is not straightforward based on my experience of controlling customer boards with a CCDebugger when the MCU is still connected to the radio.

But: Anyone that is sniffing the transmission could easily be able to find out the sync word and the sync word is not a secret as such. If they don't want their messages read by a third party they should use crypto.
  • It's great! very professional reply. Thanks.
