Hallo,

I bought a CC1111 USB dongle to use it like a sniffer.

I installed the Smart RF Packet sniffer v1.8.0 and when I launch it (the CC11 Dongle is plugged in the PC), in the program windows bottom there is the following message "Sniffer Device(s) not found"

In the quick start guide there is the following note: "CC1111 USB Dongle is pre-programmed with the packet sniffer firmware".

I haven't got any board to update the CC1111 USB Dongle firmware and I didn't buy it because I read that it is ready to be used like a sniffer.

How I can proceed?

Does someone help me to use the CC1111 Dongle like a RF sniffer?

    Hi Stefano,

    Like you say, the dongle should normally be programmed with the Packet Sniffer Firmware. Difficult to say why this would not be the case. Where did you purchase the Dongle?

    Could you confirm if the green led is lit or not when you connect the dongle.

    What do you see in the Device Manager when the dongle is connected?

    I bought the CC1111 dongle on Texas website.

    The green LED is ON when the dongle is connect to the PC.

    Are you sure that it works correctly with the Sniffer application lastest release?

    Just realize that you are using the wrong Packet Sniffer. This can be a bit confusing but you have two different variants of the SmartRF Packet Sniffer. You have the one called "PACKET-SNIFFER" and another called "PACKET-SNIFFER-2". The later variant is on the top of the list and this support newer capturing devices for the CC13xx/CC26xx device families.

    When you use the CC1111 Dongle as capturing device, you should download the "PACKET_SNIFFER" variant. The latest version here is "2.18.1". 

    With this version I'm pretty sure things will look different. If the green LED is on, that is a good indication that the Firmware is good. 

    Hopefully this will get you further in your project.
