Cannot Program CC1310

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310, TPS61291

Hello,

Taking CC1310 Launchpad as reference, I've built a board using CC1310. But when I tried programming the board using launchpad(By shorting GND, TMS, TCLK, TDI and TDO), I'm getting this error:

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -2131 @ 0x0)
Unable to access device register. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If
error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try
more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK).

I've tried the following steps but none seemed to work:
  1. Read this page and tried changing JTAG Mode to cJTAG 2 pin advanced mode
  2. Tried loading config file using View -> Load Configuration file. When I tried connecting target, I'm getting thie 2131 error.
  3. Tried flashing CC1310 that's present in Launchpad and it was successful. So, the XDS110 is working fine
  4. On GPIOs of CC1310(Including TDI and TDO), I'm getting this waveform(Do you think this is the problem with Grounding? On LDK, GPIOs are grounded)

Between DECOUP pin and ground, my circuit has 1uF instead of 12pF capacitor.

What do you think could be the problem? I'm posting schematics for you to verify. Do you notice anything unusual?

Any inputs that you provide will greatly help me.

Suresh

  • The GPIO measurement indicate that you have an issue with the hardware.

    - What is the voltage on the DCOUPL and VDDR pins?
    - Do you use the XDS110 on a LP to try flashing your card? Could you confirm that you have connected RESET as part of the JTAG interface?
  • Hello

Thanks for the reply. Here are my observations:

    • Voltage on DCOUPL pin of my board(1.72V):

    • Voltage on DCOUPL on LDK(1.32V)

I've observed one interesting thing while measuring Voltage on VDDR pin. The waveform of voltage resembles the "Voltage Discharging across Capacitor". (When I put the probe on 48 pin, the voltage decreases exponentially from 2.06V all the way to 1.88V in 1.8 seconds) PFA pictures of the same:

    • Voltage on VDDR pin on LDK(1.66V)

What do you think is the problem here?

  • I'm more concerned about the voltage you see on the DCOUPL pin since it's too high. Could you check if this pin for some reason have a short to something else? Measure the impedance to ground for this pin and compare with the LP.
    • I've checked if that pin is shorted with any other point on the PCB. There's no short with it or anything else.
    • When measuring impedance with DMM, it went off the scale(>2MOhm) while the LP shows around 1.3MOhms.
    • I took a PCB, which has nothing else except power section (TPS61291), gave power to it and measured the voltage between DCOUPL pin and GND. There's no potential difference between the pins.

Here's the layout pic: I've highlighted DCOUPL pin(Pin23) for you:

  • Have you had some progress on this?
  • HI Suresh ,
I also facing issues with CC1310 , device not detected by SMARTRF06 programmer, saw you post just wanted to know if you could fix the issue and what was the problem
    regards
