CC1101-CC1190EM869RD: ISM band for smart metering in Europe

Part Number: CC1101-CC1190EM869RD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WMBUS

Hello, I am working on smart metering for Europe. I read the ETSI regulations for license free bands. It is divided into a lot of sub-bands, and I couldn't figure out which sub-band will be specific for my use. So if anyone can guide me, can you tell me which ISM sub-band can I use for Smart Metering in Europe.

Thank you in advance

  • The heading says CC1101-CC1190 so I assume you plan to transmit at high output power (500 mW). There is only one sub-band in Europe that allows this; 869.4 - 869.65 MHz. This sub-band can be used for metering.

868.0 - 868.6 MHz is also used. E.g. in WMBUS, which is an open metering standard in Europe .
868.7 - 869.2 MHz is also used by WMBUS (but not limited to this usage)
  • Hello,
Thank you for your response. I have another query regarding this. According to the ETSI EN 300 220 I can use 863-870 Mhz band for FHSS if my channel spacing is less than 100 kHz and duty cycle is less than 0.1%. So can I use the whole band under these regulations for smart metering (with FHSS). Also, what is meant by 0.1% duty cycle. As in, how much active time period does this translate to ?
    Thank You
