CC1310: The advantages in comparison with LoRa

Lora is a RF protocol based on chirp spread spectrum and CC1310 is an RF SOC which can support the following wide range of modulation formats:
– Multilevel (G) FSK and MSK
– On-Off Keying (OOK) with optimized shaping to minimize adjacent channel leakage
– Coding-gain support for long range

Don't know how to compare an RF protocol and RF SOC exactly. Just provide you some information.

Semtech's chips are very popular for their range coverage due to LoRa modulation.

Could CC1310 be much competitive to Semtech's chips?

Despite the competition the LoRaWAN has been spreading its fame becoming bigger.

How CC1310 could live in that situation if it doesn't support LoRa modulation?

LoRa chip is only available from Semtech. CC1310 support SIGFOX which you can refer to processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Sigfox_CC1310_SDK_Demo_Users_Guide and it can compete to LoRa.

In my opinion CC1310 cannot compete at all due to "Tx only" limitation, there's no way for bidirectional communication. So, it can't be literally an M2M solution.

Hasn't got any difference which might be bring it to a front line? Apart from the integrated Cortex-M3, what about power consumption, for instance?

Yes, CC1310 can only do SIGFOX TX only for now but I think it would support RX later. If you intend to use both TX/RX, you can try to use CC1125 which you can refer to processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Sigfox_SDK_Demo_User's_Guide

Is there any plan to support LoRa modulation?

To use LoRa, you have to use Semtech's chip and there is no alternative.
