CC1125: Communication

Part Number: CC1125
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310, , CC1200

Please suggest protocol/Standard i can use in this chip e.g - Zigbee, 15.4 or 6lowpan or anyother.

Or is i have to build my own protocol,

Objective :

one to one communication and one to many.

  • Hello Sudhir,

The CC1125 is a radio transceiver that needs to be accompanied by a host MCU to accomplish the sending and receiving of packets. From your post, it seems like you would be better off using the CC1310 which has both a radio transceiver and an MCU built into it to give you a one chip solution for wireless communication. "One to One" communication can be done using a basic Rx/Tx example provided in the SimpleLink CC13x0 SDK or SmartRF Studio. "One to Many" communication can be accomplished using TI's 15.4 Stack which implements a Star network; examples of this can be found in the Resource Explorer ( dev.ti.com/.../ ).

    Best regards,

    Matt
  • hi Matthew thnx for suggestion.

I am using host MCU stm32 for cc1125, Then in this case is it possible to use 15.4 if not then what available.

  • First, back to the basics:
Since you are using CC1125 I assume that you are interested narrow band application? Which datarates are you planning to use?

As of today, Zigbee is a protocol that is primary for 2.4 GHz. It's some work done on sub 1 GHz but that is limited to the UK at the moment. 15.4 is a start network, 6lowpan is mesh: What type of network do you need for your application?

The 15.4 stack is delivered for CC13x0 and CC13x2. We are not delivering any stacks that are running on a non TI MCU.
  • I am planning for 200 Kbps.
So in this case i need make own communication protocol using raw RF, Is this correct?
  • If you are planning for 200 kbps, I would recommend using CC1200. As said, CC1125 normally target narrowband and you will get better performance using CC1200. Or you can use CC1310 giving you MCU and radio in one.
  • Ok thnx...I will check
